It’s Farmers Market Time!

The Saturday Farmers Market will open for its 8th season at 8 am on May 2nd! 
Come meet your farmer on Courthouse Square: every Saturday from 8 am-12 from May through October (with two exceptions during festivals: July 4th/Jonesborough Days and Oct 4th/Storytelling Festival).  Here’s what’s new this year:

We welcome these new vendors to the Saturday Market:

Boone Street Market’s Saturday breakfast specials will be offered at the Farmers market in our new “breakfast tent”—look for biscuits, egg strata, and more!

Farm-Food-Fun!
Monthly activites for kids/families on the 4th Saturday of each month.  Details will be posted via our weblog…signup info below.

BSM five months in:  How is it going?
·        Local food sales to date: $132,000 (October 27-April 22)
·        Participating vendors have doubled since we opened—we have 94 different suppliers
·        We’re more than a store:  Matt helps customers understand product inputs and farmer growing practices.  Matt also spends a lot of time working with farmers with their marketing and product development—including helping 4 brand new farmers get started selling their products. He’s also tilled 7 gardens for Build-it-up program gardeners…and organized our CSA!
·        We have created 2 full-time jobs
·        We have had at least 13 volunteers donate 439 hours (since January)

Thanks to everyone who has sold, shopped and volunteered at the store!
           
BSM announces new hours for Farmers Market season (May 2 to Oct 31):
10am-7pm weekdays, 12-5 Saturdays. 
It’s spring, now we can stay open later during the week---and on Saturdays we will open after the Farmers market closes!
 
Member special promotion:  10% off on Monday, May 25th
Celebrate Memorial Day with us!  10% discount for members on all purchases!

Did you know:  members always receive a 20% discount on Jonesborough Locally Grown merchandise:  t-shirts, totebags, posters and mugs? 

CSA:  We have a Community Supported Agriculture option!
Want to get your local produce in a weekly box?  You can have it delivered or pick it up, get a large box or small, more weeks or fewer weeks…if you’re interested in more info, stop in Boone Street market and talk to Matt.  Info is also posted on facebook

Kitchen needs:
Our blender is on its last legs.  Good, sturdy blender out there anywhere?  Thanks to all who have made donations to help us equip the kitchen on a tight budget!
Upcoming events
August 22nd Farm to Table Dinner 
Tickets to our gourmet local food fundraiser will be on sale to the public June 6th starting at 8am at the market. $75 each—more info at http://jonesboroughfarmtotable.blogspot.com/

NEW! “100 Mile Dinner”
This will be a locally-sourced meal served outside on the Boone Street Market plaza.  The first one is planned for Sunday June 21st.  Treat your dad to a local meal for Father’s Day!  More details to come!
